Hey guys - have a 55 in the shop that needs new crank seals - anyone ever try this tool (Lisle seal puller) for pulling seals on saws? Not sure if it's only meant for larger seals or if it would work for small seals too. Only $10 or so, so figured I might give it a shot instead of rednecking it. Cheers@

i have not used it but ive seen it listed on a site among their chainsaw repair tools so im guessing it would work? Ive looked at the same one and never have gotten around to buying one, its cheap as you said.

Thanks cus - might just pick it up and give it a shot - for the price, if it doesn't do the job I can scratch my back with it. Cheers!

That looks like it sure beats the ice pic and a wood screw method.

to tell you the truth this is the most practical puller that i have use until now
its a tube you screw it to the seal and then you just turn the T-handle spindel the seal comes out like to open a wine bottle
are three of them for diferent seals dimensions fit to all husqvarnas and in the most of stihls and are very cheap.

Video it next time you get a chance. Hard to believe the threads will bite enough to grab the seal.

Looks very simple. A tapered thread area to engage the seal itself then the screw attached to the T-handle to act like any other kind of puller and pull the tubing back away from the shaft end. Think gear puller, which basically works the same way. Simple elegant solution in my book.

I follow but don't see how the threads will grab at a perpendicular angle to the seal enough to "grab" into it enough to pull. threads don't look aggressive enough to me. it obviously works or Husky wouldn't have it as a service tool.

Sometimes seeing the "tool" work is all the "tool" needs to use the tool correctly.

A seal has some flexible material right where it seals to the shaft so, if the size is right, the external tapered threads will bite right in. I really like simple tools and this one has me favoring it. Now all I need is a reason to get one.

specialy for you i make a video for this tool , the trheads of the tool are more deep and agressive as the picture show , sometimes you need pliers to unscrew the seal from the tool. the part numbers are 502 50 55 01 , 504 91 40 01 and 504 91 40 02
