Yup, the man has some very obvious talent. The quality is very obvious. I also love that old Power Wagon he has. Saw pictures of it in another place at another time.

I can do about 1/2 cord / hour when things go right. Its really fast processing. I can cut the rounds faster than the cylinder can split and I have a 22gpump! That slows me down. Also much of the time I have to center the logs up on the infeed ramp which pulls me away from splitting.

I need to tweak a few things for next year, like the infeed and build some sort of better hopper for the cut rounds to drop into so they self center on the cylinder. Also Im going to rework the wedge into a Euro style knife wedge. All these things will speed up processing a bunch. Still going to run up against the 22gpm pump slowing me down a bit though. I could probably do with 40gpm lol.

Cost wise, including building the splitter a few years ago, I got about $4k into it. Materials only.

I did a build thread detailing it here:

I was beginning to think I was the only one who owns one of these Echo/Bearcat splitters.

image.jpeg No personal pics yet. Just ordered this Northstar 30 ton, tonight. Should be here in about a week, or so. Really liked the looks of it. Looked like someone did some developement, and had an eye towards longevity. Wallet is thinner, and fingers are crossed.

Here's a few of my splitter. Just got it in July. Still not through the break in of the engine, but getting close. download_20150715_125021.jpeg download_20150715_125024.jpeg 20150718_064954.jpg

But this Summer I picked up a much faster and safer one. HF 20 ton predator splitter.
I just use a ramp to roll the big rounds up onto the work table.

I'm a maintenance technician at a amusement park. We modified this splitter to bend track for our miniature trains.

Do you re-route the trains periodically or are you just replacing worn track?

Rerouting and adding more, wear is usually a non issue.
