Now I have to move the propane tank and regulater out of the way. And move the paint cans away from the furnace.
I might give her a trial run later this weekend.

Looking good! Thanks for chiming in on the T-cap, appreciate it. It's a tight 90 to clear the exhaust piping, what I'm thinking of doing is cut a length of 2 1/2" at a 45 degree and flip them so it makes a 90 degree and then expand one end to 3" and be done with it. It will give a sharp 90 elbow so I'll have all the clearance I need around that area. I just fired up my furnace tonight and so far so good:thumbs: Do you have a propane furnace?

Yes to the propane furnace but haven't used it in years. I am leaving it in place thought just for an alternate heat source if we ever decide to sell the house. Propane, wood and now the pellet. I am going to connect to the duct work and heat whole house and cut back on the wood to hopefully a couple face cords. Going to be a trial winter for the pellet and wood. Propane is disconnected.
    Might fire it up today.

I'm asking about the propane furnace because having a solid fuel add-on can be a no-no! You might be able to install it far apart from each other but I'm not certified to tell you that. It could raise some questions when having it inspected. I hope all goes according to plan, maybe it is and I'm jumping the gun.

My guy will be back from the land of the eskimos in a few days and he will let me know. The propane is disconnected and power is off to the furnace so it shouldn't be a problem I hope. I have access to corn for a good price so I pick some brains here if I may. How does corn compare to say premium hardwood pellets as far as heat per ton. Some people tell me corn burns hotter and lasts longer than the pellets. ???????????????. If the price was the same what would you burn.
    Thanks all Old F:whistle::whistle::whistle::whistle:

Might have to start a new tread on corn. I mix with pellets, never tried solely just corn. Harder to light with only corn, it burns hotter if corn is dry enough, gotta be clean with virtually no debris. I think Mike the saint? burns corn in his St-Croix furnace. So having the propane furnace out of commission could raise issues with the insurance, primary source of heat!

My company knows about the pellet furnace and I will call them about disconnecting the propane. Thanks for the heads up.

:cheers:Thanks Dex . It took some head scratchen and a few fails then it hit me:doh: the pipe is made of aluminum just cut a length off and split it and shape it to what I wanted and low and behold it was time for another Capt. Morgan. Took all of 15 minutes.

:cheers:Well I had the first burn to try it out, let it run for about 1/2 hr. My furnace guy came over to check it out and he liked the install.
Just doing the duct work now so I will take some pics then to show it off. I have a question for the pros . What setting do I use when burning a mix of hardwood pellets and corn. Do I use one of the corn settings or premium pellet setting. The mild temps we have been having it sure wont be a hard year on any of the fuel. Well I guess it is time for Capt. Morgan or two.:p:p:cheers::cheers:
Old Fart Did some ribs on the smoker yesterday and lots left for tonight:drool:

It all depends on the % of mixture. I use mostly pellets and corn to bump up on the heat output. I'm no where near 50%, more like 20% at most. Haven't used any corn yet with this mild temperature we're having. Might be mid-January before I do. Good to see you fired it up, now the fun & testing begins:cheers:

The fuel settings determine the timing of the self clean of the burn pot.

Premium pellet is about a 10 hr cycle between cleanings. Depending on the moisture content of your corn? You may be able to get away with running P pellet.

So the fuel settings determine the self clean, I thought maybe the settings would regulate the fan draft for burning different fuels.
Not that I want a whole lot of cold weather but we need some so I can get to playing with this thing:(:(. But then again I put my boat to bed for the winter so we need cold to make ice for ice fishing.:thumbs:. Well time for a pop. Oh I just checked the time and its only a 8.10 am so better wait for a while:rofl: :rofl: :rofl:

Welcome aboard Heyswitz. Eganville is about 1 hr 20 minutes west of Ottawa or 30 minutes south of Pembroke if you know where that is. There is a guy on here named Dexter Day that can probably help you out with any tech problems. This is the first year for me with this furnace so will be a learning experience. Pellets are same price here for hardwood or soft wood. Paid close to $ 300.00
a ton plus taxes. Corn will cost me $ 200.00 a metric ton in a tote bag dried to 15% but will have to be cleaned.
Thanks for the input. Old Fart:thumbs::thumbs:

Hey Ivanhoe did you get a chance to check them barrels. Can you really notice the difference in heat just by adding 20% corn to your pellets. If that is the case 100% corn should work really. Can you believe the temps we are having. I guess it will be a green
Christmas, oh well easier on the heating bills. We need some ice so I can try out the new Ion electric ice auger I am gonna get.
Bring on the ice :yes::yes:and maybe some of this:cheers::cheers::cheers::cheers:

I did call but no reply but I'm picking some up near Ban83's place tomorrow. I got a big all-day trip, Huntsville, Peterboro, Carrying Place, Ottawa, Gatineau and home. Heating bill will be easy on the pocket book this year. It hard to say if I noticed a difference in heat on corn, will have to place a thermometer in the duct above the stove to be sure. I'm sure it helps and I'm still learning with furnace and corn.
