So far it has. I try to get them into GOOD habits. They are quite used to my reply anytime they use the phrase, "can I," instead of, "may I?" I then ask them some related function similar to, "I hope so, your legs/arms/eyes work don't they?" "Ok, Papa.... MAY I.......?" I even go so far as to correct the grammar in in children's books. It seems to pay off so far.
