Wife wanted a head board for our bed fer Christmas so I got that done today. Normally I like to work with red oak but times are tough so pine it shall be. Then I thought I might split and stack some farwood to finish out the morning. OK, shamelessly stolen idea from a youtube vid I saw but it seemed like a piece of light work for a Sunday morning commin down.
That headboard looks real nice Butcher! Natural look is the way to go imo, and you nailed it! The christmas trees are nice too. You gonna add any color?
How long to finish the headboard? It looks fantastic!! I'm not showing the wife the other, I'm stealing the idea and will surprise her. She'll go nuts, that's really cool. Nicely done.
Kinda ashamed to admit it but I got about 3 hours total in the head board. Over the years I have built most of my own furniture and used red oak on almost all of it but times are kinda slim right now and I needed a simple fix to the need. I don't have a dedicated wood working place like I used to so all she is getting is 3 pieces of car siding and 2- 8 foot 2x4's glued and pocket screwed together with some stain on them. For much of our lives we lived in an old run down farm house in the middle of a corn field for almost no money at all. The place really was uninhabitable but it was home. Like many of them old houses from 150+ years ago there was absolutely no closets or places to put things that we seem to need in this day and age so I made much of my own stuff. Just a poor example of some of my stuff I made. Cabinets by Mike Lindner
Butcher I looked at some of your other pics too. Like the old biker pictures, kinda reminds me of some of the guys I came up around.
All of your pieces are really nice Butcher ... curio cab... yup, all of em... you know your stuff... and it shows.
I so wish I had the space and time for doing more wood working. I can get lost in time doing that stuff. Go out to the garage and my wife is yelling supper is ready and I don't know where the last 5 hours went. It is a relaxing productive pastime.
