Thanks fellers, Luckily today was incredibly nice in Upstate NY especially for December. 50 degrees and Sunny is a nice change of pace compared to the last couple of weeks. I was able to cut and split some uglies left over from my Spring cutting marathon. Right now, I have about 4 cords for the Winter consisting mainly of red oak, locust, and ash, with a bit of basswood mixed in for good measure...this should be plenty for this Season as it seems like it's going to be a relatively mild Winter in my neck of the woods.
Welcome to the hood Decemberist -You're gonna like it here-good peeps with lots to share, most are certified addiction counselors and advice comes free...If you've stalked awhile you know pics are required or it doesnt exist... Nice to meet ya!
NYC isn't so bad in moderation. Not that I go there very often even though I can see the Manhattan skyline about a mile from where I live. Maybe it's because I can go there if I want and I can be home relatively quick after one or two nasty traffic jams. I do find it amusing though when someone who lives in Yonkers tries to explain that he lives 'upstate'.
That's so true. When I lived in the Bronx, I asked a few people where they live and they would say upstate, and that was Yonkers, lol only 10 minutes from the Bronx. I only go to Manhattan now for the Holidays, otherwise I try and stay away. Worked there for over 20 years...
Welcome aboard Decemberist your at home with one of the friendliest group of folks around! Now what are you gonna do when January comes around?
Welcome, Decemberist ... Never been to Burnt Hills, but my family has a little cabin in the Catskills near Schoharie reservoir... This weather ain't customary for your area at all this time of year- but that's more time for firewood to season, right? And to add to your stacks; speaking of which, did I miss the pics of them?.....
First welcome from your fellow btu burning friends in Canada In all seriousness its a great place to hang around. You wont find a friendlier bunch!
