LOL - Dad used to say "Can't remember waking up this morning but I'm pretty sure I did."

Red Oak looks great and I too love the smell once it's cut and split. BWS will you be burning that stuff next week?

Indeed I can and do! Actually I think the hookaroon is lighter than my cane! The cane has been in the family for many years and was given to us by a fellow who owned a stockyard locally. We used it in the barn for many, many moons. Now it is put to more practical use.

Dave I don't think that tailgate is heavy enough to withstand the weight of the big oak. But the trailer is low enough so that if I place a round right next to it, standing on end, I can then use the cant hook and roll it right onto the trailer, sort of end over end. It works nicely. If we get one, and occasionally do, that is too heavy, then I simply pull the pin and the trailer tilts. Makes it easier yet.

Right! More like about 4 years from now before it will burn. We have plenty of other wood waiting to be burned before this is used so it gets good drying time and will be prime when it is time!
