basod This is my favorite shirt for working in cold weather. Brand is LLBean.

Denim on the outside with metal buttons. Tag says: Body 100% cotton. Lining 100% polyester.

Very durable and warm. Stops the wind. image.jpeg

I have to say, my favorite flannel for outside work is a Dickies brand. I know fleet farm sells them.

My green and white one is close to 20 yrs old. It's still in pretty nice shape.

Caffeine going down. Today is going to be working outdoors on barn area. Unfortunately everything is still wet from all this rain. So things will be muddy. But I have lots of work to get done while the weather is still nice.

I think my neighbor has my grapple fixed. There appears to be a design flaw. It works nicely, but I work it hard and it appears there is a lot of pressure on two of the pins. They are cracking at their thinnest point. Probably going to have to go to a harder steel to make them out of, eventually.

I will go to clearing the area of the trees I dropped the other day with it. They are all cut up already. Then drop the three or four more I need to drop, and clean them up. Then switch from grapple to bucket and tear out the stumps and level everything off.

Then it will be time to bring in some fill and raise and shape everything so I end up with the barn on high and dry ground and everything nicely sloped away in the end.

Working this AM, then taking the rest of the day off. Might fire up the splitter for a while. Dunno.

Got to let this coffee soak in a little before I do anything else.

Rainy but not windy this morning. Nice walk in this warmer weather. I am glad it is the end of the week. It has been a busy one. Last night I made butternut soup, sauce for mac and cheese and cherry bread pudding. Potluck on Sat. I am looking forward to it.

I just got the...."DO YOU KNOW HOW HOT IT IS IN HERE!" speech from the wife when she came out of the bedroom. 25 outside and 90 inside. Maybe I'm dense, but I don't see the problem. Only had 3 splits in the stove.

The wife helped me stack 2.5 cord of wood. Got another cord or so left to go...might have the pile of splits and rounds done tomorrow. Looking like 5 cord total.

Spent part of the day moving tree debris from some downed trees for barn area prep. Then pulled stumps and one large rock. The cool air has me tired out. One or two cold beers and a light dinner tonight. Then vegging in the chair while reading the latest edition of Northern Woodlands magazine and FHC surfing.

I just got the "you loading the stove now...I don't want to be hot when I eat soup later"
It was 68 in here when I got home, and I know I had the house ~72-74 when I left @0445 with a hard frost and 26 outside

I love coming home and putting on a pair of shorts to unwind on the couch:loco:
