Well... I was just gonna sell it as is... but then a sub contractor of mine (that owes me money) stopped in today, just so happens he has a good low mile Cummins from an 02 dodge. Might play let's make a deal and swap engines... then I'm thinking of putting a dump bed on it! We'll where it goes.

Hmm. That's a different engine. I wonder how the electronics (and everything else) would work? Your '03 is a common rail.

My '06 has been a pretty good truck for me. Only 91,000 miles on it so far. No way I'd spend $40-50 k on a new truck, when this one will do anything a new one will do, and it's paid off. The new ones are nicer, though. image.jpg

Since we're talking trucks... Here's my wood truck! image.jpg

And here's the last Ford I owned, and shoulda kept! Is anybody else seeing a theme here?

dually are only 2 inches wider on the axle length, 1 inch each side. if you get a good deal you can get a sw take off bed and standard wheels. if you did not know you would never notice.

an 02 engine will not work in an 03, without a lot of money added.

We have white SUVs also two of them an 01 Toy Highlander and an 04 Sequoia. Both white. We both dont like white but just happens to be the vehicles everything else was right on. When you buy used you have to prioritize and often dont get everything your after.

Congrats on the new truck! How in the heck did you blow a Cummins up at 255,000? Was it chipped or have a bunch of mods?

And what blew? Was it one of the bad blocks? I have a good diesel shop here that saves tons of trucks from t h E junkyard.

03 never had the 53 block. Injectors going bad can bend rods,or burn a hole in a piston. A not so expensive fix compared to a window in the block.

I was kind of wondering if it wasn't a bad injector melting down a piston. If that's what it was sometimes it isn't to expensive to fix.

I think it's a hole in a piston... gonna have a guy look into it for us, if the rust wasn't so bad on it I wouldn't have been so kean for a different truck. It also has a few electrical gremlins... you have to set the steering wheel just right for the ac/heat blower fan to work. The bulb out light and chime will go off constantly after a rain... that will drive a guy batty on a long drive!

Rip that chime out!!! So when you steer the blower e constantly goes on and off? Or to turn nit on it has to be in said position?

Classic injector problem. I changed mine out at 1300,000 miles just so I would sleep better. So far other than rust over my fenders on the bed mine is in ok shape right now.

I run a tune on my truck and higher fuel pressure which is harder on them and the guy I trust who works on nothing but Cummins said he recommended doing them at 150,000 miles. I figured they were cheaper than a piston and i got them at his cost.
