Want to share a few pictures of my newly arrived saw that I won via a benefit raffle. It was for a well known and well liked member that was run on another site. There was a tremendous outpouring of support from all the members. It should be noted that the gent responsible for kicking it off was Randy Evans AKA Mastermind. He kicked it off with not only this new 461r but with his "spicy recipe" porting thrown in for good measure! Having made my donation in early October and never having won anything in my life it slid off into the back of my mind where it lay dormant. The drawing was held November 7th the same day I attended my first GTG (great time, highly recommend) - that night while doing my standard 2-3am vampire-ing session I fire up the laptop.... get the news via a ton of alerts in my inbox. I was also holding up the line, without pick #1....stall city. I know, good news in the middle of the night is as rare as hens teeth. Hope you enjoy them.
Thanks fellas...took nearly 57 years to come off the, "never won a darn thing" list, and to win this...wow. Funny thing was I felt plenty lucky to run a bunch of Masterminded saws at the GTG from the gracious guys who let me, less than 12 hours later I win one! You can't make that up. BTW a lot of people here at FHC donated items and surely money as well. Don't want violate any rules by mentioning specifics. From what I've read it was a HUGE success for a very good cause.
CG congrats! R2 is cool for sure, never seen one before (saw ain't bad either) but that custom bar you built was insane. Share some of your masterful woodwork soon. I notice your Dolmar picture doesn't follow you here lol (beautiful saw as well) You have all the top saws already...more than a few are graduates of MM Academy as well, lots of those "fancy stickers" about.
I am sure my reward is much like many of us here received. I know that my contribution went to a good cause. What else could I really want?
Congrats on the 461!! That's a heck of a saw!! Member Adirondackstihl was who the raffle was for (actually his wife).. Myself, several members from here and several from AS pitched in to buy him a new MS 661R that Mastermind ported. That way he was a winner as well as everyone else that won!!! He just received the saw a couple hours ago! I hope you both enjoy them!!
Dex - that is some kick*** morning news! It doesn't surprise me you had a part in this. Tip of the cap for a great idea!
He got a ported 661, a fancy bar done by Homelite410, and several other goodies (I'd name everyone, but it's quite the list). And his wife was given a quilt that was handmade by Stihl Livin wife!!
This is the front of the quilt my wife did. Maybe Adirondackstihl can chime in with some more pictures of it.
Kenis didn't just 'have his hand in it', he was the mastermind behind the whole thing... I'm just glad I could be part of it. Thanks, Dex! Here's a teaser pic...
The best friends I have are the friends I've never even met. Truly a heartwarming bunch of guys. Congrats on the 461 Boozer!!
Oh, we will meet. I wanna run that Damm saw now!! Glad to be a part of that beautiful saw you have now! It wasn't me that did it. It took everyone in that PM. Was it my idea? Nope? It was your idea my friend! Your pic from a year ago when Phil passed is what inspired it. It just took over a year to get it moving!! (RIP and GFY Phil!!) This was early Oct of 2014
Homelite410 does extraordinary work. These custom bars he's now making are to nice to even scratch. Mufflers, vises...loads of talent & obvious pride in his finished product. On my wish list for sure.
