Cooked down the carcass earlier today in about 1 gallon of water with a bit a Kosher salt added. Let it cool for an hour, the sifted and cleaned all the bones. Added 2 carrots, 2 stalks of celery, 1 medium onion, 3 cloves garlic, 1 bay leaf, sage, parsley, salt, pepper, basil and some thyme. This is simmering away now................then in an hour or so, I'll add some white rice and some broccoli. Yummy!!
Good stuff. I have two turkey carcasses waiting for me at the in laws. I'll make broth in the pressure cooker and let it sit outside overnight. I'll skim the fat off and freeze it for the winter. Hopefully there is some meat left on the bones...
Man, they picked the turkey clean. I got about two cups of meat, mostly drumsticks that will go in the freezer until I use it. Its jigglin away in the pressure cooker now with three carrots a cut up onion and a few stalks of celery. It smells good in here.
OMG Whitey. Hate to say it but that does not sound good to me at all. Never liked turkey much to begin with then you even add some broccoli?!
Ready to strain. 57 degrees outside, so it will go in the fridge instead in a few hours. I will use Pa. Dutch noodles in mine. This is such a rich broth.
Yeah, for sure. Thought I was done munching & eating for the day, but after THIS thread, back I go to the fridge...
My wife did the same thing here. No pics, I was hauling stacking and playing with wood outside.:stacke: The house smelled awesome when I came back home. We'll add noodles to ours instead of rice or barley though. It's so darn good.
I made turkey soup for dinner with grilled cheese sandwiches. I did not have bread so I used English muffins with American and cheddar cheese.
