Started the New Year correctly

Got out about 9 and back home by 12. Nice load of cherry and a few chunks of sugar maple. Felt good to be out there as this is only the second load hauled during this burn season. Last one was in October. Perfect weather, about 25º when I got started and up over 30º by noon, with no wind to speak of. Got it unloaded and ready for the splitter in the Spring. Hopefully we have good hard ground for a while and I will hit it hard after muzzleloader season this weekend.
While I had the camera out snapped a picture of the pile on the patio.....Got some frigid stuff heading in. Supposed to be close to 0º on Friday night and next Monday -6º.

 

Hope you didn't have to go far with that load. Looks like it is sitting heavy in that truck. Good that you were able to get something done that you wanted to do.

Mother Nature put down a chit load of Cherry last spring & summer, just a guess but I think we have about 3 - 4 cord down, I think my guess is on the low end.

The way this winter is going (burning more beech than usual) I better look for downed beech, sugar maple, ash or yellow birch first.

The real feel for tomorrow could be -30 to -40.

 

Ya. They were saying -15 at least. So what kind of winds are they talking woodlands?

Yes sir, you never know what kind of winter we are going to have. I think some got spoiled last year around here as mild as it was. Personally I like the winter's we always had when I was a kid. Snow on the ground from Thanksgiving to Easter at least.

 

Cool. Good work truck. I had a an older model F-150 that I had a broken spring in on one side. So I ordered a set of F-250 springs and had my brother's garage put them in it for me. It was a good work truck. Standard. I bought it on e-bay, a no reserve auction. Got a good deal on it, worked it for a year or so, and then sold it for more than I paid for it. Nice when you can do that. Anywho. Good work on the wood.

 

Tomorrow night they have a realfeel of -48, that's having winds at 20 with wind gust at 30 mph.

I just checked AccuWeather again.

Nice haul, LP. After seeing the pic 006.jpg, remember all the books so long ago about "pyramid power"? They claimed you could put old worn out razor blades into a pyramid and rejuvenate the edges and all kinds of balderdash... never mind. That pyramid stuff didn't work anyway - you'll have to process the cherry just like always. Sorry. Nice catch!
