Here's the second of 2 loads I cut today. Both were tops of red oak trees. The first had been cut down, the main trunk was taken and the top was left, but that was enough for a load and then some. I filled the truck, drove home, unloaded and went back as quick as I could because I left about 15 rounds lying by the road. This is the second, which includes the rest of the first tree and the top of the tree that blew over. Cut up the trunk until I ran into some punk and then quit but it was still a good load. Here's some wood I cut a couple of weeks ago. I'm curious as to anyone can id this wood. Here are some pictures of the bark, top, and split. I don't know what it is, I've ruled out red oak, white oak, and pine, and that's the extent of my knowledge!
Nice loads! And good for you to not shop on Black Friday - wild horses couldn't drag me to that mess! You spent the day in a much better way! ID wood looks like ash - split threw me for a sec, but still looks like ash to me - just a little shaggier than the tight bark I see here more often. Good work! Cheers!
Headed out to the Saw shops this morning to try some bf dealing, didn't even make it there because of traffic. Your not missing anything Red Oak !
Looks like you made the better two decisions (Load 1 and Load 2) ... .... Beside that's way more fun anyways..
Did some black Friday shopping on line, gonna pick it up in tax free NH, after the nuts are all back to work on Monday.
