Now that we have been burning our Alderlea for several weeks now, I have observed some interesting phenomena about the combination of convective and radiative properties of this stove. For background, this is a stainless steel firebox surrounded on top, back and sides with cast iron, There is an airspace between the steel and the iron that serves to create a channel for convection of air on the sides, back and top vs. the radiation from the large glass front. It turns out that the way we put this into our house, it works out nearly perfect. The front points down our main hallway to our bedrooms etc.; whereas, our main living area is mostly to the side. This means that our main living area gets mostly soft convective heat that doesn't scorch us out of our living room, but, the bedrooms and hallway get the primo radiative heat. Just dumb luck, we didn't plan it this way, but it sure works out great for us.:D

    Very nice unintended consequence Mike.

That's a lucky deal , my hallway is not far away from the stove but the stove does not face it, so if I use the blower a lot, it heats up the stove room but the back of the house suffers

The stove heat has to make a left turn to get to the other end of my house.
I've suggested we move the stove into the living room pointing straight through the house, which would only take up a small space there on the west end.
We'd gain full use of the "stove room" for some other function......maybe a sitting room.
I got vetoed. We still have a stove room.

BTW, our stove likes to cruise at 5-600 *F in the center of the stove top. I'm thinking this is absolutely an ideal temp. Any feedback?

That is sure one handsome stove. I'm going to google it and check it out further.

I love the convective heat that the Alderlea provides. We can be right next to it and it doesn't roast you out at all.

Yep, that was my biggest worry about putting a wood stove right in our main living area. We usually keep our home on the cool size, low 60's*F. Fortunately, it's working out well for us.
