Get up this morning and the house is NOT WARM and the Quad had just started up. Hmmmm, it's COLD OUTSIDE and we had shut the Little whit down about 8 ish last night as the temp indoors was creeping past 72 F We try to keep the house about 70 F which is comfortable for us. Sooooo, I do not want the Quad running much as I don't have a stash of pellets for it. Our limited use of that stove pretty much keeps a small stack (2-4 bags) handy "just in case" I head over to start the little Whit and I don't see the propane torch where it is normally sitting (Behind the stove along with a coffee can of pellets) Hmmmm, "must be in the family room" nooooo, not there either Further searching reveals it sitting broken on the kitchen counter. Awe !@#$% Frank, without this, starting a fire is gonna be a pain as we have not kept starter juice in years. Well the best guess is the daughter (was up last evening) used it to light off some garbage at the burn pile and likely dropped it. The little red push button is broken, making the thing useless. Grumble grumble RANT RANT. Ahhhhh, maybe a way out. Had another that developed a leaky valve, but would work in a pinch. Went and scoured it from the "Spare parts shelf" and low and behold, it's the same kind. The button is held in with a little Allen screw, that of course does not want to come loose. Tint Allen wrench rounds out the opening right quick. Get Dumore grinder and cut a slot across the screw head and go after it with a screw driver. YESSSSSSSSSSSSS, it comes loose. Get the parts needed all out and on the table. Go after the broken unit, Ahhhhh, same game, screw stubborn Same game plan, and a few minutes later we're all back together and off to light a fire. This is not the first time the torch has been broken or forgotten, having been left in the Bobcat or worse, in the kids truck, which by the time I find out is 25 miles away. Time to buy a crate full of spares me thinks. Such is life
