I already started a thread on this in the woodstove forum, but I want to hear from you guys as well. Can you suggest some Frequently asked questions that we can answer to help newbies? Questions can be about firewood, pellets, stoves, saws, this website, etc. Also, please list any myths you can think of so we can dispell those too.

The far and away #1 thing a newbie can do to help themselves is to research a topic before posting a question.

And that's why we are making a FAQ, to make it easier for them to find answers.

But I just cleaned my stove! Scrapping the pot vs 1 ton cleanings. don2222 posted some pics of stoves people had "cleaned" but the exhaust was clogged.

Yes, it's for anything including pellet stoves. But I know little about pellet stoves so spoonfeed it to me because I don't know this stuff.

This my stoves cleaning schedule from the manual: Some people only do the weekly cleaning and then have problems.

Hopefully a pellet head will jump in and help me:) with the one ton cleanings.

Scrape the burn pot is using a metal utensil to break off the carbon residue off the pot, it builds up, that messes with feeding, igniting, and clogs the holes for burning.

I think installing an OAK is outside the scope of a FAQ.

Pellet stoves have a burnpot that gets carbon and such stuck to them so they need to scrape and clean the air holes.

Most pellet stoves have a cleaning routine listed in the owners manual. One ton is the base line of the full stove cleaning.
