Back in the day before suture glue, the insides were repaired using disintigrating absorbable suture, both on the intestines and again for the abdominal wall. The outside stiches you see are only skin. I have never seen glue til 2009 , but my wirehair viszla has green glue in her spay scar. If they had glued it I doubt that top stitch could have ripped?

Ok, Maple has her sutures removed. She may begin getting wheened back onto her normal food over the next couple days. Im a little ticked off, but will get to that in a minute.

I made an appt for Wednesday for a post op visit AT HER NORMAL VET because the animal hosp was absolutely no help. While we waited to go in to our appointment, a girl came out to collect Maple. We expected to go with. "No you stay here......" but we wanted to go over an area that looks raw and rescabbed, may not be a good idea to remove them. The girl got irritated and said that there was no Dr available. By now I started seeing red, but Dawn aggressively said, we want it checked thoroughly before they are removed! Soooo, they were checked and removed, but considering there is a little blood from the suture removal upon inspection here at home, we made a appt with our normal vet to get some questions answered and a full inspection. I guess this is what seperates loving owners from yahoos!

I cant get anything past you milleo

Unfortunately the girl was miserable there. We will ask questions at our regular vet, unfortunately we cant get in until wed. Had I known it was just a suture removal, dont ask any questions ordeal, I would have had that done with our normal vet as well.

She was much better today. She had a little bit of a bark fest when I was getting both pups their dinner together if saucy got to close to me. I fed them seperate, and when I feel she is 100%, ill begin getting her attitute back in check.

    Glad things are improving.
Concerning food aggression. Look it up. If she continues, you might consider consulting a reputable trainer. That behavior needs to be nipped in the bud I had a mixed breed dog that had food agression. She was about 4 months old then. We got it in control but I would never stick my hand in her dish while she was eating. My boy lab can get snappy with the female if the are not separated while eating. But I could take anything and he would never show aggression.

We'll definitely continue to take it one day at a time. Shes been through hell and back and has only shown signs of her old self. I feel in another few days, she should be allowed to go on longer walks in the woods, get some much needed energy out, and enjoy everything that just went away out of nowhere. Ive kept the E collar off of her during this healing period, but will start utilizing it again soon during our ventures outdoors. Then she'll suddenly "remember" oh, im part of a pack and not the leader.........

Pyrs seem to getting back to normal. Haven't heard a cough all day. They were tear-assing around the house a few minutes ago. They are going on the 6 month bordettella vaccination plan from now on.

Thanks, can't wait to get outside working and having her tag along! Nothing better than ripping the quad through the trails and having her right behind me!

I am as well. Seems like a lack of communication from the surgery place has caused you undue worry. That is NOT OK. All business have internet now, there is no reason the last little gal could not have called in the oncall/different vet, or offered to have you email pics to the oncall vet to assure you the incision is healing ok.

I will try to give you a small amount of assurance from looking at your pics, the openings in the incision towards her chest are not dangerous, or uncommon, it happens alot, especially high energy dogs (hunters.....). The openenings you see are only skin, the abdominal wall inside that and the intestine inside there are already closed :) I might guess your normal vet tomorrow might send you home with doggie neosporin, maybe a staple or stitch, but the pic does not indicate any infection:)

Thanks for all your help and advice wildwest! Below are some pics I just took. Some areas, particularly the "overlapping" of skin is the area that is still raw. Other areas look really great, some scabs are beginning to fall off exposing light colored scar tissue.

Her spirits are up, we tooka short walk in the wood off leash, but with the E collar on. She really enjoyed it. Now she's sleeping in front of the stove, a very rare occurrence.
