Gun season opens tomorrow in WV. I was trying to finish up a couple things to get ready when I came across a nice dead standing Cherry. I ended up getting 2 1/2 small trailer loads hauled to the house from this tree. I grabbed the splitting axe and went to splitting. These fresh splits read between 12% and 13.5% loving this, put it in with this years wood, ready to burn. Now I am ready fof the morning. 20151122_123535.jpg

Yep, I figured this was a bonus score, burning some now in the stove. The little Power Match has done fine so far, no complaints.

Lookin good WV....I was cutting on a silver maple for a friend Sat. it was on the side of a hill and all I could think of was I don't know how those loggers work in WV all the time. Of course I can't lie I also thought, I'm working this hard for silver maple??? but I've cut a lot of cherry and ash off this friends land so you take the good with the bad. Good luck on the hunt this week....my uncle had about 200 acres between Moundsville and New Martinsville that I used to hunt...his granddaughter has it now so I suppose I could still but like to stay closer to home.

From stump to stove as they say Tom. Looks like the rounds had dry splits on them, usually a sign for possibly ready to burn.
