I don't think I've ever had the combustor scoop glowing before. If I have, I've never noticed it. The stovetop is cruising pretty good at 560*. Should I be concerned?

I'm just guessing you do not have a cat probe....now I'm not familiar with the fireview but I can tell you with mine and the right wood off gasing I've had my cat up in the 1800º range and you could see the glow big time off the top of the cat shield. My guess is if your stove top is only 560º I think you are fine.

You're right, no CAT probe. It looks like it's settled down now. I hope everything is alright.:faint:

Your fine, its a cat stove. when it looks like an incandescent light bulb, worry. Worry fiercely then.

The longest probe you can get, won't reach far enough to get over the face of the cat, so you have to go by how brightly the cat is glowing. I hope it wasn't as yellow as it looks in that pic! o_O I always slowed it down when I saw the scoop start to glow. I like to see a medium orange color on the cat. Bright orange, I slow it down.

The picture appears brighter than it actually was. There were some flames dancing between the scoop and the CAT

I see my scoop glow sometimes as well, also get those trapped flames inside the scoop. Usually happens when the cat temp is up over 1300 and a 600+ stove top.
