Freezing temps, report in. It's Cold out there!

I see the cold air has hit the North /Central & East US.
Wood usage will go up now, looks like a week of the cold weather setting in.

What's your coldest temps?
Who has a special wood (wood mix) for these temps?

I burn birch

It's 10f now and it's going to get even colder in a few days. I'm gonna break out the Shagbark Hickory

But you have what I call the "top dog" of fire wood, hickory

 

Forecasts are for single digit temps in the N midwest.

Forecast to be below zero° in Owosso MI.

Oh Man I have a bunch of shag bark Hickory but none of it is dry

Going to down to -5 to -10f Thursday night, Usually gets pretty cold around here end of January and into February.
I wonder what is going to be like this year

 

Can't ever second guess Mother Nature, but prepare for the worst and hope for the best. Some hoarder may have to stand guard over their stash.

 

Currently 0 f here. Warmed up to +5 f today. Down to -27 tonight and -35 the following two nights. Supposed to ease up to the 20's on the week end. Running 2 stoves on 3 yo Red Oak. House temp. @ 74. All is good.

 

+3F here at the moment. Getting colder every hour. I won't be going in town for the festivities. Tried that once a few years back. I regretted every moment of it.

 

Its 30 now but there is this nasty frozen rain coming down that makes it feel like there are tiny knives plunging into your face. I drove 1 hour in that mess. Not fun. Glad to be home.

 

13 here now. I think I saw 16 for a high today on my thermometer. Might hit 17 tomorrow.

I think I saw a low of -2 forecast for this Thursday night. The forecast for next week shows one day with a single digit high.

We got a couple inches today. It was coming down pretty good when I was outside grilling a bit ago. Looks like the heaviest snow will go south of my area.

Snow blowing off the stack, not drifting in like last year, so far.

We went up to Bray's after doing a junk store run. I'm still full from the sausage platter and porter.

I'll be catching some shut eye as the new year arrives.
