I ended up ganging the 2 6" slabs together to finish sawing my 6x6's. I used some f-clamps to try to realign them as best I could. It worked out pretty good, but some end dawgs shaped like this ] sure would have come in handy. Will Malloff uses them and I've seen them on wranglerstar videos as well. (I'm dropping a huge Secret Santa hint here... ) Made some 2" slabs from the rest.
I roughed out the remaining 2 logs today and hauled them up to the house. Every one of these logs ended up being a little crooked. This tree actually has a twin, quite a bit larger and still standing. So I think it must have been sort of a 'side reacher'. If I would have sawn it at the natural bends, I probably could have had some longer stock. I ended up with 6 and 7' lengths after sawing off a bit of firewood from the ends.
Living a dream... It was a beautiful day today too. I've got next week off - hopefully we get some weather like this!
