I just did a search for wood pellet heat values and grabbed that pic from all the charts they had . The reason is that La Crete which is Spruce post a high btu close to Dog fir , but is much lower on this chart .

I can attest the Cretes are hot. Spruce Pointe is another like the Cretes. I assume they're spruce based on the name but I've never checked. Don't see them in my area.

Looks like a comparison of dry btu/lb for the one item they're promoting vs. as-received btu/lb for the rest. The bottom 6 are not dry btu/lb values.

Finally broke down and put a bag of Vanderhoof's Platinum in , set the stove to low . So far very nice heat of 300 from vent and 425 off center glass keeping the house evenly heated . The glass is staying fairly clean and ash is moderate considering it's running on low . The smell of the pellet / earthy is stronger than Blazer and LaCrete put not unpleasant . Also fines are next to nothing and pellet is very durable .

I really like these a lot too. They smell great! Mine are a mix of long and short, some of them are ~1.25 inches long. The glass definitely remains clean longer with these than some other brands.

I like these a lot too, Decently priced locally as well.

I get confused with these and you know who's platinums. Might be better if they called them something else to eliminate any confusion? I'm gonna say Vanderhauf's to help when I comment on them.

I really liked the Okanagan platinums, hasn't been cold enough to throw the LaCrete's in yet and the Douglas Fir is going to wait until its really cold. Burning up the rest of our left over TSC/MWP of which i still have around 28 bags. I don't think I've gone through more than 5 bags yet this season!

I hear ya I'm just doing some testing so I can add 1 more ton to top things off . Also I'm heating the house from the basement so I can get away with using the hotter pellets earlier in the season .:D

Can't wait to hear which product you decide to go with. I have a feeling I know what it will be, but will remain quiet so as not to influence the judge's final decision...

LACRETE ! Very HoT ! Very Clean ! cb 1200 med. setting feed gate wide open . Downstairs temp set at 75 swing # 7 330 from vents , 460 center glass . low setting 305 vents , 407 center glass . Did not show any hazing until 5 hours in which was very slight . Turned stove to low in less than 1/2 hr of running test . So far clearly the top pellet I've try so far . :coldfire:
