This afternoon my wife emptied ashes from the stove. This is nothing unusual except the unusual part is this is the first time this fall to do so! Thanks to an above normal fall temperature, we just have not burned as much wood as normal.

Will this continue for most of the winter?

I'm holding out hope for this winter to be somewhat "normal".

Well, speaking of normal. Isn't it about time for Buffalo/western New York to get buried under 4 feet of November snow? Seems to happen every year.:hair:

Ha! Yeah we do get a lot of snow here - "Lake Effect" from being downwind from 2 great lakes.

Last November was mild here as well. I remember because I was building my holzhausen at the time, and I was hoping to have it finished by Thanksgiving so I could show it off to my folks. I think we all remember February - we had the polar vortex and 3' of snow on the ground here. So I won't be counting my mild winter chickens just yet. :)
