Missjudged the weather

It's a little warm in here. Tank top temps in this old farmhouse. Thought it was dipping into the low 20. Still only 36. 80-85 in both stove rooms.

I'd open a window, but that just seems wrong considering how much I fought to get to this point.

Where did I put my shorts...

 

It was raining and in the 40s today. Started the stove up at about midnight as it was down to 35°. Ran the oil furnace during the day a little. Almost felt guilty for doing it. I've run it up hot before the temps dip and just T-shirt and barefoot it till it cools down. I know how you feel about not opening the windows.

 

Wife has had the entire week off so I run the stoves a little more than when she is at work all day. We had a high of about 45 today. Now that means I run one stove, but I woke up this morning to my wife loading the second stove. So, I kept it going all day. Did a full load tonight thinking it was dipping into the low 20 but we are still in the upper 30s right now.

 

It's gonna start getting cold after tonight. -3° for us by Friday night.

 

8 for us on Friday night with 20 mph winds.

 

I did that the other day I thought it was getting colder than it actually was and ended up 81 in the house, And I had long johns on , They came off pretty quick though and I found a pair of shorts

 

Heat soak the house,
Wear shorts
Cold weather is coming

 

5 degree F this AM, and that is going to be the high, plus a bit windy. I think a huge tree fell near the house toward the lake a few minutes ago. The entire house shook and the dog went crazy. I'm hoping when it gets light and I go out that I see a tree NEAR the house, not with branches on the roof.... I'd been hearing a weird moaning noise off and on for an hour before the event...had the dog freaked...now I realize what it was. This house is quiet, so (a) you know that moaning/groaning was loud and (b) I hadn't realized it was windy out

Going down to -20F by Wednesday..something to look forward to for NYs Day. Well below 0 F every night this week. Kind of cold.

Since early December, we've had more weather like this than not. I'm told by those old enough to remember that we are just back to normal winters.

I hope they're wrong.

 

-20 this morning, burning hot hot hot, may be a four load day.

 

They updated the forecast to -6° Friday night, and snow on Thursday and Friday. I had better load up.

 

Happens sometimes.
With the temps we're having, it almost can't be too warm in here.

 

Snow totals are all over the place right now. 5"-8" Thursday night is what they're showing at the moment here. If it's a true nor'easter, then that 8" will just be the beginning.

 

Snow predictions for Thursday/Friday are all over the place at this point. Anywhere from 3" - 15". Low on Friday is -1 with 20 mph winds which puts us at -23 with windchill.

 

No major snow that I can see for here, but a low of -11 coming Thurs. night.
No telling what the actual will be. I may get up about 4 am just to check.

 

And to throw some more wood on the fire. -11° is gettin chilly.

 

Maybe. With the DV heater on, maybe not.

 

Only -10 this morning, looks like it may not go above 0 just like yesterday. Still toasty here inside. So far we're having an old fashioned snowy cold Winter. Bring back glowbull warming!

 

Supposed to have had a high of 47. Its 48 now I'm letting the stove go cold to clean.
