That looks good for easy splitting wood.. Kind of dangerous if you misplace your wood handling hand though.. Difficult wood would be impossible with that gadget though..

Yeah, I don't see it going through what seams like 50% of what I am able to obtain.

Yeah, I've seen that before. Some guy in the Ukraine if I'm not mistaken. I think it's pretty clever though. Luck for him his supply of wood is easy splitting. LOL, when Ifirst read this I thought, "Chopping wood? Who does that!" Ah, splitting wood;)

Yeah, as much as I like the contraption - assisted human power runs on peanut butter and jelly sandwiches ? - I see it stalling on 1/2 of what I have too, although even with a little 5 horse splitter I have to put a percentage ( small, surprisingly ) to the side to noodled a slot to then retry in the splitter again.
No fuel cost for splitting 1/2 my stash ( beyond food and drink) wouldn't be so bad.

Now if I could limit my wood to 12 inch diameter max and no knots, bends and crotches ....

I can hardly believe how many times I've seen that video. For sure it would work on really easy splitting stuff especially when it is cut short. Not practical unless you want short wood and wood that burns really fast.

Great for making kindling. Seems like those Europeans like their wood small. I suppose you could always hit it with a sledge.

Savage hit it on the head. Short round with an easy to split straight grain. Actually it might work on short rounds of oak also. It splits fairly easy. However, I think I will stay with my hydraulic splitter. I think I would be less likely to loose a finger that way. I even use a stick to stabilize pieces I am splitting with a hatchet on the rare occasions I need to make kindling.

Not only that Oliver but just watching the video, I could split that wood he has a whole lot faster with the hydraulics.
