Went over the the neighbors and took care of that downed oak and got in some hemlock while I was at it, now they can get their four wheeler to where the hunt deer. Hoping for some venison in the near future.
The outside is a little punky but the innards are prime firewood, threw some on some coals last night and it lit right up. Not sure what the moisture rating is but if I had to guess I'd say it was pretty low, below 20%. They do pretty good hunting down there, I don't hunt because I don't have a license or the time but I have seen a few 8-10 pointers in my lot. And luckily it's a win win for the two of us, I clean up their trails and give them easier access and I get some premo firewood. A lot better than the hemlock I usually get, at least now I have some harder wood for the winter to ease on the usage out of my current stacks, looking onto that three year plan at the moment.
Mixed in with some of last years left over red maple(about 2 chords) and a chord of 2 year+ ash I bought for the colder months, figuring probably later December it will start getting added in for overnight burns and then I'll start putting it in full mix for day burning during January. Or at least I hope. This will keep me away from the oak and sugar maple I have.
