Clem, If you look at them closley, they are "old" diner booth seats with the cusions removed and some trex decking screwed to it. I'm at work but there is a tread here somewhere that showes me bringing them home. I "think" it was two years ago. They were put to the curb, I saw them and the bell went off!
Thanks! I didn't make it, they were old diner booth seats! I just put them together... That holds two weeks worth on an average winter.
but the bell went off and you figured it out.. You should see the dim light in my head pop when an old oak skid shows up at work... Love being a hoarder..
I would of grabbed them the metal for either a project or scrap!! Nice work look great. I can see it now...without even looking again!
More ought to be able to be found now. I hauled scrap a few weeks ago and it only brought $3/100 for shredder steel. Almost not worth the gas time unless there is a huge pile somewhere!
My shoulder wood is almost completely silver maple. Lots of it available. If the air temps don't get out of the 30s I'm generally using the better wood.
Being the wood snob that I am I just burn white and red oak! Why cut anything else? There is so much here I don't have to hunt for it just go ask!
Last time my wife took in scrap steel a couple weeks ago, ( old grill, old rusty smoker, scrap) the recycler didn't pay her a cent. They only paid for cans. Made me mad, and I called them afterwards. She wasn't taken any more than anyone else, they simply are not paying for ANYTHING but aluminum cans now. That's garbage!!!
I got paid. But like I said it was $3.00/100. I had 900 pounds of shredder. Last time I hauled was back about mid march. I think I had 1000 give or take 100 it was $10.50!!! This time I had over 300# of batteries so thats what held me up it was still like $0.17/# but thats down from like $0.20-25. #1 copper was only bringing $1.70 and #2 was 1.80!!! I had about 70+# of arc electrical wire and various other stuff as well. Not a good payoff at $97 if it was earlier in the year I would of made over $200. Hated I took it bit they said it may be a year out longer till it goes back up. They had piles of it all over higher than I ever seen.
I burn mostly maple and birch during the shoulder season. Then when the temps get to 30° consistently I burn the red oak and hickory. It has been very warm here in the north east so far this fall so haven't been burning much at all.
Uglies, short pieces, and crotches. I try to burn the non-conforming pieces first, because it makes my stacks prettier.
Would you fellow hoarders classify this as shoulder season wood? Craigslist ad....free wood. I am passing this one up
