Backwoods Savage (Dennis) listening to one of the shop welders describe the process on how they are fabricating the new franklin style stoves.
I didn't bring a pamphlet home but they has some specs on this new stove and the emissions was nearly half of that on the IS, somewhere around .7 (ish)? As the T-shirts they gave out said R2Z or road to zero (zero emmisions)

HDRock, it's weird it looks better in person than in the picture. I'm not a huge fan of it. Just trying to be impartial..

But we, mostly wife, talked to Jeff. a WS welder, for almost an hour! This guy knew his stuff! but never heard of FHC  He got a stove so he's looking us up!

One of the beta franklins WS had on display. They had a couple of these stoves with some new artwork on them, each stove had a different theme. They are still messing around with potential designs and while we were there we voted on the artwork that we saw on a scale of 1 to 5. I believe the front, top and some of the door will have a design. I believe doors can be hinged on either the right or left side. The ash pan also works on the door side, not from the front.

Another beta stove nearly ready for field testing, this is another one of the designs they are trying out.
soapstone lined and this one has the ash pan grate.

Your basic franklin base model, this one has the long legs to help with floor clearances. When I voted on designs of this and the other stoves I liked this one most. I didn't like the wings on the other models as much as I liked this one. It's basic but I like the simple look of it better than the "winged" models.
The handle above the door with the hole in it, thats the handle to open the bypass door to engage the catalyst. When the handle is down the cat is engaged and it blocks the door from being opened. The air damper lever is behind the stove.

That would be neat to have the firebox high enough that you don't need to bend to load.

WS's idea was to help with situations where floors that had ember protection only.

The tall leg stove looks good. Different in design almost like a cookstove. Was it called the "shaker" design? I think they are onto something with that one.

I could see some dogs and cats crawling under it for a nap.

I bet a muffin fan down under that stove would do a lot of good.

:stirpot: I can see that use.

I'm a big muffin fan, perhaps too big ... can't see fitting under there. As far as doing a lot of good, well, I'm sure I got a high R value.

Great Pics! Thank you, glad all went well. I really like the looks of the IS, but the new one looks good too... Especially with wings and the brownish/gold details on it... They put out some interesting looking stoves...

This is a shot of the different artwork they have come up with so far for the new Franklin styled stove.

And last but not least the food and drink WS provided. Long Trail brewery provided the beer and 2 pigs and some ribs filled the belly.

They artwork on the left looks like Victorian "Eastlake" hardware. With the right design this new stove could look stunning in a Victorian home.
