I read an article in field & stream the other day that said the same thing. Police K9 had no trouble with picking up any trail with any of the products used, and deer have millions more scent receptors than a dog.

That said, I still wouldn't want to walk the woods smelling like Bounty. Now Dreft, maybe. One of the pleasures of having babies in the house.

End result after round 2 is acceptable but not perfect. I've got an old front load machine and it sucks at serious cleaning. Going to use an old school top load tomorrow....I think volume of water and agitation levels in the old school machine will work better. Hillbilly bachelor laundry 102. Sheets stink but camo is clean.

Can you run them through a sanitary cycle? Or are they cold water only?

I always hang my gear outside the night before...unless it is raining or snowing. Supposed to be clear and windy tomorrow afternoon....good day for destinking.

been using hot water...even cranked the water heater full blast lol. My machine is way to old to have any features. It is a Gen 1 front loader. 15 years old.

I know I'm not beating a deer or dogs nose. But less scent is better. If I can smell it, it's bad... I smoke. My nose sucks.

The more this stuff hangs inside and air drys, the better the nose hits are. I'm beginning to think the baking soda and vinegar solution is better than the store bought crap.

Ok. 2nd load of round 2 cocktail just came out. It's official. 1 half cup baking soda, 1 cup of distilled white vinegar, and 4 Oz of unscented detergent will kill the nastiest of stink. Write that down folks, it works.

I've always just used baking soda on my outer layers. Not the best hunter or interested in shooting the biggest deer either so I don't worry bout it a lot. If my outer layer gets cruddy I'll use detergent than launder with just baking soda.

Regardless of what we smell, the deer and elk smell it much better. I try my best to keep everything scent free, but you're never gonna smell like a rock or something inert.
I tie loops of para-cord onto my pack, clothes, and boots. Squirt some elk pizz on the cord, I'm usually good. Wind direction is more key than anything else.
I also enjoy the residual nose-wrinkling from folks that get near me after season. Elk pizz soaks in and hangs around for a while. Elevators are awesome.

Reminds me of my young and dumb days of high school! A buddy of mine tried to toilet paper my house one night, but I happened to come home and caught him before he had done anything. I retaliated by taking all the wheels off of his truck and setting the truck back down on them. And I poured half a bottle of fox urine down his heater vents. The fox urine might have been taking it a little far, he couldn't run his heat without the windows down for 6 months!!!
