Thanks, put that on the list. We watched Epic last night and Man of Steel this afternoon. Epic was a good movie-the movie makers have done a good job over the past 10 years making kids movies while sliding in humor for the adults as well. The Croods was very funny !

Agreed on Croods. We took them to see that at the theatre too. We don't go to the theatre much, expensive. But when a movie comes out that looks like it will be real good for the kids we try to take them. It is a good experience for all, and the kids get to eat snacks and whatever drinks they want. (Kids includes Dad!)

That is a nice unit. How is it that it doesn't crack when you add heat when it is freezing cold?
What do you plan to cook today?

It has pretty much done all the cracking in the last year. There is one good size one at the top of the door. There are three layers of cob mix (clay/sand/straw), so an outer layer crack does not make it into the inner layer. I have fired the oven many times in the evening and night and no light from the fire shines through the cracks.

There is a Chicago deep dish in there now. I will start a thread in the smokehouse later today.

Yesterday my dad and I along with some friends finished the roof on my grandparents old house next door. Always a good reminder that im not quite in the shape I thought I was after climbing around on a 10/12 roof all day. I was hurtin this mornin!

So today me and mrs piney did some floor shopping and then spent the afternoon watching season 3 of breaking bad.

Aaaaa yes. Interesting what muscles you find that you seem to have forgotten or lost when you do something you haven't done in a while. Good job fixing their roof man!

They've both passed but dad still owns the property. We try to keep up on the house maintenance as much we can. The roof was in pretty bad shape so it's nice to finally have it all finished.

Well I have to get my butt going today and cut some wood. Because of the Ice/Snow combination on the ground in the woods I think I will take down some standing dead Pines trees that are near the road back at the camp. This way I won't have to deal with slipping and sliding around. Should be able to drop them right in the road or parking area and cut them up. I hope they are not too dry. I won't be burning them until next year. I suppose I could burn it spring/summer/fall for domestic hot water heating though.

my sister lived there for about a year and it's since been empty. Dad buys and sells equipment and uses the property to work on the equipment and also store stuff. He plans to rent the house to a friend of mine this summer.

Wife and I watched Man of Steel a night or two ago. I love exercising my home-theater and subwoofer, but man.. the special effects were over the top in that movie. Really too much of an assault on the senses. But, WOW the sound track was wild.. and I did like some of the planet Krypton scenes.

Hanging in our jammies.. I just fetched the paper for Mama and fed the birds and put new suet out in the cages. I have a virtual bird sanctuary going on here and it has been fun to do for many years. Some pretty fat squirrels and wild turkeys too.
