Oh, no we had a cheap old US stove that refused to die. We're digging the Heatilator. Nothing fancy to it. It just pumps heat. Simple like me.

If a pellet store sells Lacrete North Country, Platinum, or the Homefire pressed logs he has access to Olympus. Many dealers are afraid to try a D. Fir pellet because of price. Now they don't have to risk buying a full truck , they can have a pallet or two thrown on with any of the other brands. Dan can back that up!

I don't mean to be repetitive, to those that have read this earlier, but the funny thing is,
when we first started talking about Doug Firs, we were a little skeptical because of the retail price, and our local market..
So after telling Henry that I would buy them, if they gathered dust, we decided to get 5 ton, with our La Crete order.
5 Ton. He's awesome... whenever he and I talk, if we go with something I research, he always says "ok".
But it's your butt! It wasn't so bad with the DF... because we only got 5 ton... When we decided on La Crete
we ordered two truckloads.... fortunately, those have taken off VERY well. Butt saved!!
    Big seller.
Today, we got a load of pellets in, and the Olympus that we got, put us at around the equivilant
of four truckloads... they came with some North Country, and La Crete...
The truck wasn't gone an hour, and a guy came over and picked up a ton
of North Country, and a ton of Olympus.
The response has been way beyond anything we thought.
In all fairness, we are selling them at a really good price. (IMO).
$349 for a high quality Doug Fir, compared to $299+ for store brand at some BBS...
All the talk about nobody buying pellets, gotta say, not here. Now part of that may be
business from disgruntled burners looking at BBS prices... but we are actually ahead of last year.
And the Olympus has helped that. Even though some regulars get a ton in lieu of a ton of
what they normally buy, we have received calls from new people that have not been able to find
    DF's. And just want them...
So bottom line, after a long winded post... yes.... local dealers can
mix and match if they sell La Crete. So if your guy sells them, he can get Olympus mixed in.

    Dan

I grew up in So. NH on the Vermont border. I get down that way occasionally. I'll have to plan on stopping by next time I do.

We were there 3rd week of October. Same day we went over to Mt. Major, we took a swing by McManus to grab a few bags of the highly sought after Olympus DFs. I did not know you were so close!

Was able to stop by McManus Fuels Thursday, picked up 3 test bags each of LaCrete and Olympus DFs.

Shout out & Thanks to Henry and Dan,

and of course Steve for the excellent review: looking forward to roasting these soon. (Starting w/ the LaCrete's this evening if the Boss gives the Ok.. I think so, temps. at 50 here, and steadily dropping.,)

Hi ttdberg, Looking forward to trying them both out, and will be reporting back, though I fully expect it will be excellent news.

Stove here isn't the 'best' suited for detailed pellet testing (it's a PITA to clean / measuring ash will be difficult),

but I can measure exit temps. and give an objective comparison, so - ordered the "Signstek 3 1/2 6802 II Dual Channel Digital Thermometer" / the same unit Steve has pictured in his review, from Amazon this morning.

I'm confident you will love them both too! I have the same thermometer; special thanks to IHP and Steve for recommending it last year. I have not put it to much use just yet, but plan to this season!

Cool ! Another Shout Out & Thanks to IHP also.

The purchase is 'justified', I'm planning on installing a copper Heat Sink on top of the Heat Exchanger, closing up & ducting out the sides where the Humidifier tray once resided, and routing that heat via 3" aluminum piping down to floor level -> into the living room space: so that 2nd temp probe will come in handy. ( If it works out, Happy Wife = Happy Life, if not, no big deal: nothing ventured, nothing gained. )

I'm sure the wife will be 'thrilled' about me making the stove look like it's been assimilated by the Borg..
