Cabelas (online only) currently has factory reconditioned Mr. buddy heaters on sale super cheap. The best value is the 4k-9K BTU model at half price ($56 after tax and free ship to store), but there are other models on sale also. Buy 2 and get $20 in cabelas bucks back making them $46 each! Free shipping on that buy 2 deal (over $100) also.

For those that don't know, these things are the BEST portable propane heater for the $. They run off 1lb or 20lb tanks (hose optional for the 20lb tank). Use them when the power is out, when SHTF, in a hunting blind, Ice fishing shack, tailgating, or whatever. They rock-especially at this price. I have 2 of the big buddy heaters with hundreds of hours on them, and bought the one linked above JIC as it was too cheap to pass up.

Soooooo, deal alert for you prepping minded peeps. That is all.

They are a great unit and we even take one along sometimes when cutting wood.

Just use caution if using inside a hunting blind or something similar. Those fumes can take a life and it creeps up on people without realizing what is happening.

We have a couple of these that we use a lot out on the patio.

The knob is crappy and broke on both of them. I ended up having to, um, modify them.
Now they're controlled directly from the valve on the tank. The other night when I was starting one up, it charred the bill on my hat. I'm thinking maybe I need to put a reggalater on it.

I just got a Northern Tool catalog a week or 2 ago and heaters were on sale there also.

I use a Big Buddy in my reloading room. We have some the smaller ones in deer blinds.

Just got mine, much earlier than expected.
Has a 16oz bottle hooked up and burning right now. No issues so far.
Why do I need a filter when hooked up to a 20lb. tank? I have a 12' hose for it. Is the filter a must?
    Thanks, JB

From what I have read, bulk 20lb tanks are not filtered like the 1lb tanks are. Using a 20lb with no filter supposedly clogs the little holes in the ceramic plate over time. Filters are cheap. 10 bucks. I use filters, and haven't had an issue in hundreds of hours on 2 heaters.

I am not hank hill, and I did not stay at a holiday Inn last night.
