Using a trailer to throw the splits into right from the splitter
Got the idea from tjcole50. He uses his PU.
Borrowed a trailer from a neighbor, Saves a step.

Good setup, Probably more productive than the little trailer, huh

Cool no matter how many years we process wood, a lighbulb finally turns on to make things easier. Nice work!

Great idea it is. And all this time I have been picking them up from a ground pile to stack.

    Yea
It worked real good. Time I got the trailer full, I needed a break from sitting & splitting.

Yeah, if I had a bigger trailer that would fit between my stacks I would use it, sometimes I fill up the little trailer and my 4 wheel buggy before I go stack,
when I bought the cord of ash even though I only had to move it 15 to 20 feet, no way was I going throw it on the ground and pick it up again

For the past upteen years I threw the splits in a pile on the ground, then picked them up again, into the trailer.
Should've figured this out years ago.

Old dog learns new trick :D
Thanks to my neighbor, I have a big enough trailer to use, can run the splitter for quite a while before the splits start falling out
& it's not to high to make throwing them up any harder
& I can drive to either side of the stack to off load closer to either row. :)

Those spilts all look like they're 4 x 6, perfect for stacking.

I try to make as many sq or rectangular ones for the end row cross stack.
Some are too twisted to use, but they burn good

Just wondering Dave do you use a plank or something, in front of the foot on your splitter while splitting vertically, I do

Dave, one time when we moved wood after splitting and that is how we did it. But usually we half way stack up the wood where we plan on stacking after splitting so one less move involved.

Yeah , I don't have to hold the round up on the foot just put it there n pull the lever , helps a whole lot on bigger stuff

    Gat a picture?
Think you are saying the splitter is not 90°, at a slight angle so rounds stay on
