Daughters friends parents are building a new house. They need to get the foundation in soon and there are still trees growing there. Got a good part of it cleared yesterday but today was rainy and making a mess. Did get to dig out Clarabel as it wasn't worth paying to get the skidder moved for 1 acre. Had already been somewhat cleared but got some decent stuff from there.
Went home and split the load I brought home yesterday. 48 and showers all day long. I'm wet and cold and had no desire to finish that pile. Have another dozen oak to take down sometime this week and that project is done.
Poor guy has pneumonia. He helped yesterday a little and landed back in walk in care this morning. He helped me a lot last year when I went through 4 surgeries, just paying it back.
Been busy but the next weekend we went and finished clearing the lot. His wife kept marking trees she wanted gone. Between thanksgiving and my daughter being into so many things I finally finished splitting it all up. I'm gonna say 7 cord. Now the hard part. I gotta stack it.
Great job! This is how the world can work everyone helping each other! Had a friend ( also my truss supplier ) stop by today on his way to his sons house. He was going to surprise him with a few packs of gas station wood for his new home with a fireplace. I had him back his truck up to one of my 3 year old Red Oak stacks. I then filled the bed and told him to start his son off right. I thought he was going to cry when I told him it was my gift to him and his son.
Can't beat that. I spent October through March having to lay low. This guy helped us a ton. Just paying it back and they don't burn any wood.
Those were the small ones. Got into the back where nothing has been cut since the 50s and they get a lot bigger. Lot of them 2 feet on the butt. Luckily I didn't have to handle them other than loading the splitter.
Last winter pretty much cured the bending problem for me. Let's just say that I'm not remotely close to as flexible as I used to be. Feels so much better now.
My wife is actually good at stacking. Way better then me. She just complains so much that I tell her to just go back in the house. Works to her favor. Although last year she got 8 cord into the basement and stacked all by herself. All I had to do was back the trailer into the garage.
