Got one in every room and 2 in each of the stove rooms.

They're an essential item for any home whether you heat with wood or not.

Make sure ya keep 'em by the EXIT DOOR from the room. Don't go into a fire to get the extinguisher ........... I've seen so many behind the stove so they are "out of the way" ..............

ABC dry chemical extinguishers should be inverted every month or so to ensure the chemical doesn't settle and cake over.

That's a great reminder Deacon. Thank you!

basod, I had no idea I should invert them. Thanks for sharing! Mine are 3 years old and going to get inverted for the first time today. Silly question, should I be able to feel the chemical "slosh" around?

    You may/not feel something.
We have ~60 extinguishers at work that get inspected monthly. There are only a few of the ABC's that I've ever really felt any sloshing.

As far as expiration dates go it's really just for a hydro test on the steel cylinder, if the gauge shows good pressure it's probably good to go

Good advice. How would you have one re-charged? It has never been used but the indicator needle is in low or recharge position.

Just buy a new one. The neck seal is probably slowly leaking.
Unless it's a large one probably not cost effective
