I was wondering if anyone had any experience with hydraulic chainsaws like they use in bucket trucks. How do they perform compared to a gas chainsaw? What cc would you give? It seems like they should have very high performance, because the powerhead is offboard, and can be much larger than all but a motorcycle derived race saw could be. On the other hand, I imagine dragging the hoses around can be kind of a pain unless all you're doing is standing in the bucket. I don't have any use for one, and I've never laid hands on one, but I was just interested if you all had any experience with them.
Yeah, I checked into them on ebay. I wanted to make a version of a HD hedge trimmer to trim my wood roads back with this contraption mounted on the bucket, and powered by the tractor.
