Looked at an odd on CL, someone wants to get rid of some logs from the power company topping of trees. Add says mixed hardwoods but I'll know more when I go to look at it. If it's anything like my wood lot it's mostly cherry and red maple, not bad stuff and close to home too, in the same town actually. Pics will follow if everything pans out.
The only thing I would warn about. Most times what the power company cuts is very small so it would take a lot, which means lots of work for a little wood. However, not always is is small, but usually around here it is.
Turned out to be mostly red maple, with some cherry mixed in, mostly under 4 inches but there was some 12+ inch red maple. No pics yet as I can't get my computer to agree with my phone.
They have been trimming all the feeders by my house too not lucky enough to grab any wood yet..... Calling for wind the next two days so there may be wood on the ground somewhere
Grabbed anything one inch and over, ended up being about a half a pick up load at the end of the day, being red maple it should be ready for next burning season.
Hey, have you been stealing some of our wood covering material? Looks just like some of ours that my wife moved yesterday!
That stuff can be ready to burn in 6 months if you need it, provided it has been split and stacked. About the fastest drying wood I know of.
Yeah I've noticed the stuff I have dries pretty quick. While not as high on the btu chart as sugar maple I still wouldn't pass up an opportunity to get some of it.
