Mr Cnice, That is the right screw. Turn it 1/4 turn counterclockwise. It will allow more air for idling. Bolt everything back up again and give it a try. These 2253 and 550xp are great little saws. Pm me if you need any more help. I have a spare carb on the shelf.

    Jack

Let us know how you make out with your 2253. I am located in Warwick, RI and it is a short distance to your location in SE Mass, if you need assistance.

IMG_20151106_173845.jpg Replaced the Fuel pump assembly in my beater on friday.
Pump was fine, sending unit was funky monkey.

I like having a gas gauge again.

    Your beater looks pretty nice.

I am always surprised how many members live in the city or town. I always think of folks with these type of interests living more rural.

Thought that was under hood till I saw the body mount hoke and saw the cross members and spotted tank top.

From next pic I already saw you pulled the bed instead of dropping tank.

    Yessir.

Took all of about 15 minutes to remove 6 bolts and loosen the last 2 bolts to allow the bed to just tilt upwards.
Hardest part was getting the lock ring off that holds down the drop in assembly.

I've got 562XP, and a 550XP on my bench. Both were fried, but are coming back to life as ported saws with new top ends.

Finish two new wood sheds today, they hold 688.5 cords each... 20151110_153127.jpg

Just kidding, really are cattle loafing sheds 30x144x17 each unit... kind puts it into perspective that these two buildings won't hold all the wood FHC has CSS'ed! 20151110_153203.jpg

Interestingly, the head of archeology for the Thomas Jefferson Foundation was up there today. A former head who was responsible for digging the old house site was there with one of her classes. She is now a professor. So I got to pick his brain on a few fallen down buildings I have seen at this and other properties the Foundation owns. The whole old home site was excavated in the 1990's. Maybe they had to replace the original stone after the dig? I don't know. You are right it doesn't look nearly 90 years old.

I was at a cemetery last week with really old head stones early 1800's, the thing I thought was neat was they only inscribed the day of death. Then they would list the age as x years x months x days and you would have to do the math to figure out the birthday
