I wouldn't mind burning a bag from a different skid/load to compare to one of Will's bags. I'll see if we can track down a couple bags.
Finishing off my last half ton from 5 years ago. Stored high and dry in my shed and burning tonight, hot and clean. Opening each bag is like opening the last bottles of a case of your favorite wine. Soon gone, but leaving that nice warm feeling. Goodbye, Barefoots.
Be nice to compare and see if its just certain batches. Certainly hope so, Used to be an excellent pellet round these parts. But if the squabble starts, Makes a few wonder what they might get for their money. Fiber crunch due to oil industries, Has many mills scrambling to keep a solid source and meet demands. I just wonder if they let their guard down a wee bit?? Also heard they may have been sold(merged), But could not get any info whether it was true or not??
Yes it will after awhile . Normally I would have scrapped the pot once or twice in a 24 hr period , but I let it go to see if I would have the cake issue that Steve got .
Tossed in some Lig's thanks Steve after I scrapped the pot gonna burn the whole bag with out cleaning the pot same setting as for the Barefoot's and see what happens Results may take a while as temps here will push into the 70's tomorrow Right now it looks like the Lig's are kick'in Azz and taking names
Will, I suspect the brownies would eventually get pushed out, but would you agree that once it reaches the level shown in your pics, it's really a moot point? The burn pot holes and fire are smothered, and the flame lazy. The stove is only putting out a fraction of the heat that it should, and it's a losing battle. The only solution is to scrape that crap out of there, and more often than you wish! Ugh, I can't stand when I end up with pellets that do that. You are forced to burn them only when you are around and the house and have time to go check on it and scrape the pot at frequent intervals.
I picked up a decent supply of these at TSC (left over from last season) so I really hope they are as good as the batch you got!
I don't know how they work either I just know that they work very well. Simple to operate I just turn it on to the temp I want and fan speed and the stove does the rest . Scrape the burn pot once a day ,give it a good cleaning every few weeks.
Yep being a bottom feed ash gets pushed up and out into ash bin . Harman's are famous for developing a" speed bump" carbon build up in the throat of the burn pot that needs to be scraped away . Now if I'm getting ash cakes and such then I will scrape more often .
True but, depends on pellets burned.. with Energex, Stove chows, and O'Malley's, I would always get a small speedbump. with better pellets like the Energex Goldens and softwoods, no speedbumps... O'malley's were the worst... Carbon deposits Hard as diamonds and longest pellets in the Universe...
OK update finally finished burning the bag of Lig's ,No ash cakes all light and fluffy can still see the burn pot holes through the ash build up that's my comparison of the 2 draw your own conclusions . Your mileage may vary .
I thought that too but when I touched the ash [ there's a joke in here ] it was fluffy and it fell apart . The BF ash cakes are still solid in my ash bin .
