Higher cost of firewood due to fracking?

Drilling activities use limited mats. Permanent aggregate roads are built for drilling and future access.
Its the utility end of gas, oil, electric, and communications that require the temporary use of miles of mats.
Its not BS. My mill sawed RR ties and crane mat cants for many years before we had to mothball it. Input material cost got too high to make any $. Firewood competes with low grade industrial grade timber/pulp.

Just now on channel 12 news out of R I cordwood price up to $325.00. Do to bad winter that kept tree guys out of forest in the North East. Wait and tomorrow there will be a new reason.

Wet fall . The mill that supplies the majority of my wood I sell is shut down due to wet weather. First time 26 years in business I've had to turn away customers in the fall.
This is not a conspiracy. Wood inventories are low east of the Mississippi for several reasons and will continue to be .

I was thinking that too. I can't speak to the price of wood elsewhere, but here in PA I was paying $175 cut/split/delivered. If wood got to $400/cord I'd get another pellet stove and forget the firewood.

Not everywhere. I'm just to the east of you and driving into wetlands on my property the tractor has never seen in my lifetime. They're drylands now.

Connecticut isn't exactly the logging/sawmill epicenter east of the Mississippi.
