This time every year, I get a mouse or 2 come inside for a warm place to sleep. Well, this one's a first. Woke up today to a drowned mouse in the toilet. He must've been thirsty. Didn't even have to dig out the traps haha.
Yea, I've been thinking it's almost time to leave the traps out. Maybe leaving the toilet lid up is the way to go!
HOLY CHIT-- Just thinking about what you could have sat on... Not going to the bathroom in YOUR house at night!!
We get them in the sink more often than I care to admit, but never in the toilet! But were in the middle of bean and corn fields in a old farm house, so it kind of just comes with it
I have 12 traps out and I've been averaging 1 a night. They are all outside, 2 in the plow truck, 6 around the snowmobiles and 4 more in the sheds.
We've been finding some dog food stashed behind cabinets and such lately, so we knew we had one in the house. My girlfriend picked up some of the 'humane' glue traps, and within a couple days we caught it. I took it way out in the woods near the back property line and let it go. A couple days later, it had found it's way back and we caught it again. I know it was the same one, because he was missing fur on his belly from the first time. My girlfriend wasn't home at the time, and he was fresh out of second chances. He won't be back.
Mr. Firebroad tried those glue traps. Wound up with a tiny foot on one when he tried to 'release' it. After that, I put any others in a plastic grocery bag and whacked it with a brick. Yuck. I will stick to snap traps.
They ate the main wiring harness on my Tundra, that cost some serious cash luckily my car insurance covered it.
Unfortunately I've caught short tailed shrews in my traps, it's too bad because they're fierce little mouse killers.
I welcome spiders. They eat the other bugs. Just don't want them sliding down in front of my face to say "howdy"
A few years ago my Tacoma started running a little rough and idling high ........... checked the air filter to see if it was dirty, there was a mouse in there with a nest and a bunch of babies .......... and that truck was my everyday driver ...... dug 'em all out and all the nesting stuff, ran fine again
I've had 'em chew up the coil wires on the tractor.....twice. They make a nest on top of the head. Fried mice smells weird.
This happened to my Mazda Protege last winter. They had moved on, but the filter was thoroughly filled with the nest. Greg
For the longest time we've not had cats. Last year we picked up a brother and sister. The sister, Jacky, goes outside and catches mice and squirrels like there is not tomorrow. Inside the brother, Toby, has only caught one mouse, but I don't think she is letting them get in.
