This is a date code. But I believe for the bags. But it's a good indicator if it's last year's stock or this years. I've seen the bags with dates that are only a month or so apart. So I use this as a guide. The skid sticker is the exact date, but the bag date is pretty close in my opinion. I've burned 2 test bags this season from my Farm and Home and they were as good as they have ever been. Great heat, small pellets, low fines, and low ash. I still need one ton to add to the stash. So unless I find the PTL softies or some Clean Energy's? I will be grabbing a ton soon.
Hands down, a great pellet. Lucked out with a stash of 4 tons last year. Augmented with 2 tons of Blazers this year, so I am good through 2017. Will replace what I use this winter in the spring. Won't buy the box store crap while paying just an extra "Jackson" to get the premium stuff. Think of the difference between Beam Black and Bulleit.....
Ha Dpoops: Thanks for the time testing, and giving me a little time finding my way as a new member. This sure is a great site
I just seen a pallet of Somersets at Lowes and was tempted to try them at 5.18 a bag. But like a lot of people I'm now on the softies bandwagon.
Hey Russell, could you give a former pellet pig a heads up and tell him which Lowes we are talkin about.
Thanks Russell.I found some a couple of years ago in the Abington Lowes.I bought 20 bags and loved em.Even with cheap oil I may have to pick up a few bags.
You missed an opportunity to try a really good Hardwood on second thought maybe it's good the Set's prolly don't show up in your area very often and you don't want to get spoiled
I've been on the phone with them to see if they have any more in stock that they haven't pushed out to the floor yet . In any case I'm learning what brands to grab in the future.
Russell we would never steer you wrong here my friend Set's are one of the top shelf hardwoods IMO year after year.
