    ...is a hoarders treasure!

let's hear some stories about re-purposing and dumpster diving.

i'll start with a wheeled litter carrier that was destined for the trash more than five years ago. Originally meant to carry a soldier on a stretcher out of the battlefield. I was going use it for a base to make a mobile fish cleaning station that i could roll out to the back of the yard to cut stripers and tuna. Kids here now and saltwater fishing has gone by the wayside. I cant believe i never thought of it for a wood cart! now what to do with the 4'x8' cutting board? there is already a back-splash and a cutout for a sink. that was getting tossed also...
I digress. Rails are prob 18" apart and i got 21" between tires. I cut at 20" so its perfect for me.
Whats really nice is the legs on both ends. When i kick them down the whole thing is very stable. I can think of a few other uses in the non-burning season now that i have brought it out from the loft of the barn.

These 2 chairs were garbage picks. Solid Maple. Rebuilt and refinished them and they are solid as hell and get used every day. They're not perfect, but we like them and they'll last a long time, longer than anything we'd buy new.

I rescued all of these kitchen cabinets out of my neighbor's trash. Built a new custom countertop for them, and added some leveling feet, and they're now they're part of my deluxe radial arm saw station. Works great for making deluxe folding sawbucks! :)

I have a few projects. I'll collect any old furniture to use it later.

Craftsman style book case made from an old dining room table top and armoire. All oak.

My firewood storage box made from an old bureau. I used the side plate of my dad's circa 1976 Jotul 602 for the front. My favorite piece. The cast iron cup pull handles were salvaged off a workbench. I hardly throw away any hardware.

Another book shelf made from a walnut apothecary cabinet that was beyond reasonable repair. It has a nice shellac finish.

Artist storage box made from a child's school desk in sugar maple.

A bunch of serving trays from a dining room table I made for a customer. She paid for those cup handles.

Side tables made from what was left of the same table for the same customer.

Nice workshop Shawn Curry !! Here some pics of my 'boiler shop' in progress. Lots of freecycle. Cabinets, table tops, sink, doors, light fixtures. The tin walls are from a walk/drive-in cooler. They are 2x4 framed with expanding foam inside. Wish i coulda fit more in my truck.
