I was happy with the two pallets of Pres-to's I got delivered from Lowes. the pallets and bags were in excellent shape. But yeah, that stuff in the store itself is all kinds of messed up.
So far I have no complaints with the Stove Chow / HD for a shoulder pellet . They seem to burn fairly clean and have good heat .
Generally, Just like the pellet houses. The good clean pallets get saved for the full ton purchase crowd. Usually they pull the beat up or busted up stuff for single bag sales.
I buy by the bag because I enjoy "the hunt" and wind up with wet bags and so on quite a bit when I'm not really paying attention.
I wish my local Lowes had Somerset again this year. Dryest pellets I have bought, although the fork truck drivers all seem to puncture a lot of bags!
It's not just at that level... Lately, the deliveries have been absolutely horrible. More damage than we have ever seen in the past. Just brutal. Bags on the bottom, mostly, get ripped, then wet. Major pain. You can't take it apart, just too labor intensive so you throw in extra bags to make up for the bad ones, or give a break on the price. Either way, it rots. Guys loading this stuff up just don't give a crap. Dan
It always gets worse (the handling) when business is on an upswing or in full swing. The push for quantity overcomes the need for quality. It is a top down mindset. Management pushes for more from the same labor pool and labor reacts by giving more without regard to effect. It is a management defect more often than a labor defect. I was a production manager in a medical manufacturing plant in my past life. I always told the Supervisors that when all was smooth the production people were responsible. When things were ragged management was responsible. I think the same holds true in every business and if the BB has a lot of broken bags management not the lift driver is the root of the problem
I think there is a difference between this biz, and your description. Packaging for your stuff was probably a LOT more protective. This stuff comes in the cheeziest plastic wrappers, with no protection whatsoever... it's there to keep the bags from tipping over, not to protect them. Then... it gets slammed around at a variety of places. There are a lot of places for the damage to occur. I "may" agree it's management, but only at the location with the problem. It's out of the suppliers control once it leaves the PoO.. I don't blame the manufacturer.. (for other than the cheese packaging) Or the guy you call to place the order.. It's at some spot on the 3000 mile trip.. where someone doesn't give a crap. Dan
Lignetics, Bear Mountain Forest Products announce merger | Biomassmagazine.com This article may be old news but just in case you guys haven't seen it I thought it was good general info .
We had a tread on it here somewhere. Hoped the merger gets some of those BM's and sister brands where we see other Lignetic's products. Like joining the PTL's at the boxes for insistence, But likely won't happen.......... Most of that stuff stays out west.
