Got to the tank Draining: Can see lots of stuff in the bottom of the tank. Def needs cleaned. Will report progress. 48° but 30 mph wind gusts Good to be doing it in the heated shop , not in the middle of the woods with few tools.
Progress Wasn't as hard as I thought. Came out relatively easy. Can see the on/reserve stand pipes Tank out, no easy way to fully drain or clean: Problem: Founds a dead bug & parts, small pieces of clear & red plastic, dirt & looks like fine wood chips. (no water) Few years ago I added an inline fuel filter. Cleaned the high/low filters & the tank best I could: back together:
Hope that was the problem. Didn't take the off/reserve/on valve apart, the screens should keep the ports on it clean When it quit in the woods, I pulled the fuel hose to the carb , no fuel & the tank was over 1/2. Gravity feed so I figured something had the fuel source plugged. After I blew back thru the hose to the tank, fuel started running again. 14 years of accumulation of stuff.
Though it isn't hard on the back, arms & shoulders. Just hard on patience , figuring out how to get things apart & back together.
Yea One with power steering. Over 1/2 the arm & shoulder soreness is from fighting the steering thru the woods. Cut some , load some helps but in 4 wheel drive, it's a bear to turn & backing up the trailer in the woods is next to impossible
Yea I have no idea why they didnt put inline filters on these things. When I got my honda 300 it had a clogged up carb. There was all kinds of rust dust n particles. Only the mesh screen thats on the on/reserve
I put mine so I can just reach in there and pull it out. And I can see it if I look from side. Its a larger size one. Would take a lot of crud to stop it up
