Paint should not really wear off much the first time? Were you pinching in the cut much? If your chain is really dull it heats like crazy. Was the chain too tight on bar?
That looks like poor paint bond to me. Thats not even normal or common. I'm sure you know it usually comes off within a half inch of the rails first. The bare will also look blued from heat. I have bars that were badly abused and still have most of the paint on that part.
This is weird so wont let me upload pic of wood i cut today but the rest it will so im thinkin it may exceed th3 size who knows but ill take a pic tommorow n try again sorry guys
Yah clem thought the same thing pinched twice in hard wood i was cuttin some hard wood dealer said that could been the cause?? Ran beautiful but bar smoked after a bit of cutting i was cutting cherry some oak n ash i think driving me nuts wonderin
Was it green or dry? Cutting dry wood is harder on them. Well when I say dry I mean a dead tree been there a year or two. Green or just fallen trees have more water in them and water acts as a lube and helps cool as well.
There is always the "fling" test. Hold the tip of the bar 1-2" from a stump/hard surface and see if any oil flings off of it at full throttle. Should only take 2-3 seconds to see a thin line of oil appear.
Alot of what i cut today was all dead n laying i have a 18inch bar there were sizes rangin from 8 inchs round to 12 max id say some were still gree but not many at all
Yup master mech tried it and seems to be oiling fine even took bar off n port isnt clogged it puts it out nice ne other suggt??
So what do u guys think i should do ?? Its still under 2 year warranty just keep runnin er ? Cuts well seems to be oilin well n runs excellent darn bar losin paint n seems to be smokin n gettin warm even sounds weird i kno spit on the bar today n sizzled when it hit bar ???
They will get hot when you run one hard. This is Dex's secret to make his saws look unused. He only cuts about a tank full out of each saw then grabs another to use. At least thats how I took what he said. He has some bars with like 15 cords on them and 99% of the original paint. Forester bars too!!! The bars I run also get hot. Real hot like yours. And I dont run dull chains. I take 2-4 chains with me and swap them out. These new saws dont oil like the old stihl from 10-15 years ago the good old 0xx series saws. I got some some earthquakes that will oil like crazy. Slinging off the bar after ideling and even oiling when the saw is off!!! Haha. I think I remember reading the new saws dont soul at idle? I think the old ones still put out some oil and thats why when you went to grab the throttle again. You ended up with a large rope of oil slinging off.
Heard the same thing clem the new stihl saws are a bit anemic with oil hope thats the case im just gonna keep using her if she breaks its under 2 year warrnaty n have a excellent stihl dealer so hope everything goes well thanks clem n master mech for all the info love this club so far
Thats one thing I like about the husky 372...it oils like crazy. That and its just a NASTY saw with amazing power to weight!
I heard there nice saws i just dont know if i could go to husky stihl is all my family ever used my dads side all were loggers im the only generation that didnt become one lol but if i keep geetin fits from this stihl i may reconsider lol
All the more reason to be different. Cutting with a group is much more fun that way. Everybody expects my Stihls to kick azz right off the tailgate. (And they do) But pull out some beat up Husky or better yet a Dolmar and shred a log with it. Everybody loves a sleeper.....
Ohh yes i love.my dolmars also lol i also tried using for a bit today my friends 111i dolmar and loved it solid build for sure
Yea all XP models are pro. Even old ones. But I dont think they had XP way back in the day when they were just 2 digit saws?
Awesome the reason i was wondering was there was a 90s model husky xp dont reacall the model for sale at a trading post near me pushin 200 bucks think its in the 200s or 300s model line is that a decent price? For that era xp saw i recall the saw was pertty clean but have no info on it
