My MS 460 (77 cc) vs 2171 w/XPW jug on it (75 cc). Both ported by Mastermind. I just got an unlimited coil for the 2171 recently (thanks JRSDWS) and now it was a fair fight. Both tuned to about 15,000 I made 3 cuts and timed them twice. Then took an average. 2171 - 2.61 secs MS 460 - 2.87 secs The Jred is a strong saw with the quad port cylinder. Definitely a great running saw.
Both saws tuned to 15000 RPM's. That is impressive and they must be doing about 12000 to 13000 in the cut. Does that sound right.
Great Video, there Dex... Definitely not how I figure it would have ended. That Jonsered is a runner... Love that look that you've done to the 460...
eye candy, music to my ears, if only I could have smelled the 2-stroke fumes it would have been perfect
The husky372 and the 2171 and in this case the XPW version is a NASTY saw. I could not believe it the first time I ran one. I mean strong out of the box with a stock muffler. And I am a stihl fan but give credit where its due. The 372 I have looks and is just worn out but it still has decent compression. But it still cuts like crazy! Or should I say cuts like a Boss so I sound cool
Both saws looked good. That 460 would look real good with one of those custom bars Homelite 410 is building now.
Those bars are very very nice looking. But, without any paint, they do and will rust. If you use them at all it would be a battle to keep them pristine and shiny. A stainless bar would be amazing.
Yep The quad port engines definitely produce a little more over the dual port. Those are sweet looking bars! Thanks. I like it.. A lot.
I have a couple more vids with my square and new RS that I will post up Wednesday. They area about the same as far as who is faster. But I did my square, my round (videos above), and new RS that is out of the box.
I think my OE 372xp has the edge on my 046 in smaller wood as well. But I have not put the clock to it to find out, either way I think it would be mighty close. I agree with mdavlee when he intimates the 046/460 will pull away in bigger wood which is why the 372 has been running a 20" bar and the 046 a 25". Both are broken in at this point so maybe it is time to see what is what. I was going to time my stock 10mm 044 against my modded 10mm 044 and see how much difference there was with those.
Yep. In 12x12 or bigger a 046 or 7900 will take them. The ability to hit the wood so high helps the 372 beat the 7900 unless it's got an unlimited coil.
broke out my jonny red 2065 yesterday just to shake out the cobwebs.........shes a strong runner and i think she looks real good next to my PP415.....
