We normally only burn the wood eater and one pellet unit at a time (below freezing we use the furnace / above freezing we use the Enerzone).

When I am lazy and I don't load the wood eater the Enerzone gets fired when it's super cold. Last season we had numerous nights below -10° to -20°. So both were used. But the Enerzone stat was 2° below the furnace. So if it couldn't keep on on 3 or 4 (5 is max) . It would kick on. I refuse to use the furnace in level 5. I don't want to push anything to its limits........ Besides the wood stove ;) lol

Yeah, I didn't like it either when I couldn't find my insulated hiking boots in the coat closet - the girls rooted through it when they were home 'gathering supplies' a few weeks ago, like 2 Bears at a Bird Feeder.. Not a day to be wearing running sneakers.

I'm gonna put up a 'WalMart' sign next time they visit. sigh. Found the wife's boots for her though.

Okay, I'll bite (and I'll bet you've explained this before), what is with the extra sheet metal on top in the first picture?

Well, mystery solved, the Boss says "weren't you wearing those when you were Roto tilling the garden", so they've been sitting out in the woodshed all summer, I'm a dumb-azz, and very lucky they weren't used as a critter home or shredded apart for critter bedding. But now I wonder just how ripe they were, that the critters avoided them all summer..

I made a custom convection deck. So all the air blows across the the hot stove top.

    Works great!! :)

Any suggestions on a thermometer for either inside or outside the pellet stove to help check heat output.

Some use a turkey thermometer and put it in the output tube to get temp of the air that the stove is blowing out into the room

    Something like this

I had a different thermocouple until last year when I bought the one that Steve posted above. Great unit and you can measure two different spots. One spot I touch steel (what I consider a hot spot) the other measures from the same point everytime (1" out /centered/from left convection tube).

    For $20 it's a great tool to have. :)

Bag 5 went in the hopper. Stove is off due to a rather nice warm day and lots of solar. If it didn't crack 70 it had to be really close!! House was 73 when I got home. Wife is baking so it should fire tonight. But tomorrow AM it should to take off the morning chilly's.

Started off cold and damp here JT, mid-fifties, but was sunny and rapidly warming at 1pm when had to report into work - and will be dropping rapidly later tonight, stove will be on for the next few days here. Oaks and Maples are rapidly loosing leaves today, looks like raking detail starts this weekend / next week. Bag 7 feeding the stove, time to lug more into the house..
