The sale is 10/7 - 10/11 I just checked the link to the flyer - the price is now back up to $5.49/bag. I should have grabbed a screen shot yesterday. It said Save 55 cents!
Stopped at my local Lowe's here's this weeks price $ 5.98 / bag $259 / ton third price change in a week and your options are GS Freedom Fuel AWF hardwood GT's And my best option is no thank you Lowe's
The Lowes prices around here keep changing too. I was at the local store about a week ago and saw signage indicating the new lower $245/ton price, however their site again says $5.98 a bag again. They only have GS anyway so the price doesn't matter.
Now that we've had a good cold spell. I would assume the stacks would be dropping. Got to head out today gonna check the big 3 near me and see what they have and what the prices are. I might snag 25 or so if I find something decent and the price has settled. Oil is still under $2 bucks so, We shall see!!
Wow, Not much to hunt really. HD had Timber Heats and FSU's both going for $269/ton($5.38/bag). Odd their site says limited supplies yet I see over 120 tons on site?? See pic below!! Lowes had GS's and Nation choice and 120 ish tons of them and not many with sold sprayed on em either!!Price was still $5.98/bag..... Didn't bother getting the ton deal price............. TSC has Some red bagged MWP and GS's. Looks to be 50 ish tons or so. $5.28/bag and still $264/ton........... Guess I shoulda stayed in bed!! (puke smiley here!!)
I've noticed at our local HD, often times they have plenty of pallets out back, or to the side, but sometimes, they have little pieces of paper stuck to them.... with people's name on them.. I suppose either for pickup, or delivery. ? Dan
Wtf happened to pellet prices omg? Almost 6 bucks a bag for green supreme at Lowes? Oil prices drop and pellets go up? Never saw that in all the time I've had this stove.
Yeah, your not alone trying to figger that one out. Been a topic of discussion on the forum for a while. Home heating oil is available here (still) for under $2/gal
Same is happening for cord wood prices too. Many are just filling the dino tanks and getting a bit of wood or pellets to help the juice out. Have you any pellet house close by? Might want to check their prices out JIC. Some have tried to get the price in check. Local pellet house near me has some quality stuff only slightly higher than the box deals. Box store's seem to have made a call to get pellets into the blue and be less of a lost leader.....
The place that I have bought the last 28 tons from called me back in August wondering if I was going to order more since I ordered 12 ton last year. I told them it would be next summer at the earliest as I always order a two year supply when I buy pellets and was sitting on more than 8 tons from the prior order. If it had been Steve who was doing the calling I would have talked with him to find out how it was going, his son James was the one calling.
Ya I'm sure it's been a heavy topic here. They can suck it. I think the pellet mfg's are pricing themselves out of the game this year. We shall see. I'm burning now but only because the water return on my furnace is leaking. I'm eligible for help so once it's fixed it will be burning instead of the St Croix.
Many folks are thinking just like you oil is cheaper than pellets and we all want to save $$ I don't have that option here Electric only so pellets it is
Me too! But man I wish I had and oil or NG option. Someday maybe! I gotz a feeling this is only the beginning of the BS as many of us don't have much of an option and we might be getting backed into a corner! I might actually get to use the multifuel feature everyone told me I would never need!!
Raw material is still an issue. A lot going into power generation now since coal is taboo. the pipeline industry is gangbusters now and diverting raw material indirectly by way of crane mats. This material is never produced and goes to market in the form of unsawed timbers = no sawdust. Trucking rates are crazy the last 6 months even with fuel down. Some costly regulations and more coming soon . I've raised my trucking rates 3 times this year to total about 8% and that just covers overtime. Even with my price increases I'm still maxed out. My customers are saying other companies are going under. It's ugly out there. Forest product infrastructure has been (in the last 10 years) and continues to be decimated. Recently saw an ad for a massive 3 sawmill auction on the west coast. Lumber demand is down considerably YOY = less raw material on the market. I honestly don't see prices going down in the next 24 months. FWIW ,, I was at a big pellet mill (100,000 TPY)in early August and their warehouse was nearly empty. They may have had 300 ton on hand. An inventory like that heading into your busy season would be nerve racking as a business owner.
This is a pipe line job my company was on this summer. For those that don't know or understand crane mats . They are sections of timbers bolted together . Usually very thick ,,, think 10x10's .The concept is to create a hard working surface on wet or unstable soil or they are used in swamp crossings. This job had literally acres of these mats that equipment was parked on and literally miles of mats creating roads to haul pipe materials and aggregates to work areas and for equipment to work on in wet areas .Imagine the amount of raw sawdust material not going to market contained in the would be kerf had these been sawed down to dimensional lumber. The same applies to the millions of RR ties replaced every year.
