So the weather turned cool and cloudy this afternoon in the mid 40's. I had this idea yesterday and the day turned out just right for the meal. I fired on white cedar and sugar maple splits and moved to oak later in the burn. I cooked the beef pie filling on the stove top and then out to the oven to bake the crust. I had all the coals raked out and the water soaked wood door in place while cooking. This was a fantastic meal. I planned on baking a loaf of bread, but my neighbors wife sent down some fresh cinnamon raisin toast that I turned into bread pudding. 30 minutes later and the bread pudding is ready. I haven't had bread pudding in years. I really wished I had some sort of caramel creme type of sauce to drizzle on top. The neighbors will get half the pan.
Your meals keep getting better and better! Perfect meal for a chilly day! Dinner and dessert look amazing Jon! Thank goodness ive got lasagna in the oven.
Oh, yes I looked. mmmmmmm If we don't go wood cutting tomorrow, I was planning on making turkey pot pies with the left over turkey from Thanksgiving and freezing them. Haven't made bread pudding in years.
